ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Seventy-three year old Alvin Straight is a stubborn man who lives a simple life. He needs to do things on his own terms but his health is failing him. When he learns that his brother, Lyle, from who he has been estranged for ten years, has just suffered a heart attack, Alvin decides to make peace with his brother before it's too late.
Unfortunately, his brother lives in Wisconsin and Alvin lives in Iowa and does not have a valid driver's license. Deciding to make the trip on his own terms, Alvin sets off driving his aged riding lawn mover towing a trailer that holds all of his necessary supplies. As Alvin encounters all kinds of folks along the way, Alvin hopes that he can finish the trip before either he, his lawn mower, or his brother give out for good.
